Big Goals for 2023: Wk 15/52

You are the average of the 5 habits you repeat most.
– James Clear

01: Purge 1000 items {Status: 822/1000}

While I did not remove many items this week, the items that did go were very large: A TV (that hasn’t properly worked in a long time), two children’s bookcases (because we’re empty nesters) and the mutli-colored fabric bins that go in them (which match absolutely nothing).

02: Organize the Attic

So much new floor — but, it’s so pretty outside that this work must wait for a rainy day!

03: Read 100 Books {Status: 16/100}

I started a physical book – which means that I’m juggling three books right now. Finishing books has slowed, but I’m enjoying outside reads!

Big Goals for 2023: Wk 10/52

It’s rarely doing the work that is hard, it’s starting the work. Once you begin, it’s often less painful to continue working. This is why—in the beginning—it is often more important to build the habit of getting started than it is to worry about whether or not you are doing enough. – James Clear

What you do on your ordinary days determines what you can achieve on your extraordinary days. – James Clear

Finally finding my groove, and this week was the most productive one yet.

01: Purge 1000 items {Status: 725/1000}

With one week before vacation and house-sitters getting ready to take over my house, decluttering and cleaning were a priority. I tackled the sunroom, and I filled the trashcan twice. Things that left are CDs, purses, bulletin boards, boxes, photo albums, craft supplies, and cards (some left over from my part-time job at Hallmark… how many years ago was that?)

02: Organize the Attic

Big Goals for 2023: Wk 07/52

It doesn’t make sense to continue wanting something if you’re not willing to do Before you throw more time at the problem, throw more focused action at the problem. You don’t need more time, you need fewer distractions.

– James Clear

Another crazy week where my professional and personal “to-do” lists are multiple pages long – and, for reasons beyond my control, I only added items this week (not subtracting), but that’s ok. I did manage to complete one really big task at work and a few little personal tasks at home. Through all of this, I still plugged in every day – my Power Zones Challenge and enjoyed a few Valentine’s Day rides for fun. Overall, this week was 10/10.

01: Purge 1000 items {Status: 532/1000}

Now that the bathroom remodel is nearly complete, it was time to whittle down the bathroom supplies so that ALL supplies fit neatly under the counter for easy access. To tackle this, I took everything out and make important decisions. For example: who needs prescriptions and cosmetics from 2018? My husband said, “What if…”. My dear, if we are in need of those medications, we are in need of medical care immediately. So, two trash cans later, the bathroom is quite tidy.

02: Organize the Attic

One box from the attic was dwindled down to one small sandwich-sized plastic bag of ribbon for holiday gift wrapping. Other than that, the entire box left my house (and was added to the total above).

Big Goals for 2023: Wk 06/52

It doesn’t make sense to continue wanting something if you’re not willing to do what it takes to get it.

If you don’t want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process, is to guarantee disappointment.

– James Clear

Today was better. I still have professional and personal “to do” lists that are multiple pages long – and, for reasons beyond my control, I only added items this week (not subtract) – but, that’s ok. Time is valuable. You can waste it, spend it, or invest it. The choice is yours.

The challenge continues. The bathroom remodel is still not complete – over one week behind schedule. We waited for the majority of the week for a decision about the insurance claim on the car — finally receiving closure on Saturday (totaled car, and purchased a new one). But, I plugged in every day. I had the most intense workout schedule ever this week – an FTP test and a 75 ride. But, I did it. Bring on more challenges!
